Grooming FAQs

How often should my dog be groomed?

Most dogs benefit from grooming every 4-6 weeks to maintain their coat and overall health. Dogs with longer or curly coats may require more frequent maintenance. Regular grooming helps prevent discomfort, skin irritation and mats. At Groom Guru, we believe that grooming is important because of its crucial role in providing your dog with the holistic preventative care it needs. For more information on this, you can read Our Approach

Why can pricing vary?
Every dog is different. Our final pricing will reflect your dog's size, coat, temperament, and the personalised nature of our services.

What size do I select?
You should choose the size that corresponds to your dog’s breed or weight. Please refer to our Size Guide which we have made to help with this!

Can I choose a groomer?

We don’t offer individual groomer selection when booking.

At Groom Guru, every dog is cared for by our collaborative grooming team. After each appointment, we carefully record the details of your dog’s groom - including preferences, coat notes and handling requirements — so that any member of the team can provide a consistent experience next time.

This shared approach ensures continuity of care and means your dog will always receive the same high standard of service, even if a particular team member is unavailable due to illness or annual leave.

All grooming services are overseen by our Head of Grooming or a designated supervisor to maintain quality and consistency.

What if my dog is nervous?

We allow extra time for anxious or first-time dogs to introduce grooming in a calm and gradual manner. Our specialised low-volume, individual approach helps reduce stress and create positive grooming experiences. If you have any concerns, feel free to let us know in advance my emailing us at contact@groomguru.dog - we're happy to discuss.

What happens if my dog is matted?

Severe matting can cause discomfort and may require additional time or specialised handling. If this is the case, we will explain your options clearly before proceeding. Matting fees may also be incurred. Regular grooming helps prevent matting from developing.

Can I stay at the salon while you groom my dog?

Unfortunately, you may not stay at the salon while your dog is being groomed.

This is because your dog will become alert to your presence. This can cause behavioural changes such as added excitement or anxiousness, which may threaten the health and safety or your pup and our grooming staff, making the provision of our services dangerous.

If you arrive early to pick up your dog and their service has not been completed, please refrain from alerting them to your arrival in any way or form and kindly exit the premises until the service is completed.

Do I need to bring anything with my dog for their appointment?

Just bring your dog – no additional items are required!

However, if your dog has specific requirements such as allergies or anxious behaviour, we recommend you speak to our grooming team at contact@groomguru.dog prior to your appointment to discuss how we can work with you to create the best experience and provide the best care for your dog!

Why should my puppy come for its first groom?

We generally advise that puppies are introduced to grooming between the ages of 10 weeks to 8 months, after their second round of vaccinations.

We provide puppy grooming through our unique Puppy’s First Groom service. At Groom Guru, we have carefully planned this service to gently introduce grooming to your puppy, therefore creating a positive association to ensure a comfortable experience!

More information on the Puppy’s First Groom service can be found here.

Daycare FAQs

How many dogs attend daycare each day?

We accept a maximum of four dogs per day. This allows us to maintain a calm environment and provide close supervision at all times.

Is your daycare licensed?

Yes. Groom Guru is licensed by Camden Council and meets higher standards of animal welfare compliance.

Does my dog need to be neutered or spayed?

Yes. Dogs attending regular daycare must be spayed, neutered or chemically castrated around 6 months of age (following veterinary advice). Puppies under this age may attend temporarily.

What vaccinations are required?

All dogs must have completed their primary vaccination course at least 2 weeks prior to attending daycare.

This is required under our licensing conditions and protects all dogs in our care.

Booking and Policies

How does booking work?

You can request a grooming appointment through our online booking system.

A small deposit secures your request. Once reviewed, we’ll confirm your appointment via email.

How do make a daycare appointmet?

Daycare enrolment begins with our structured application and trial process.

Before booking any regular daycare sessions, all dogs must:

This ensures daycare is the right fit for your pup and helps us maintain a safe, balanced group environment.

Once your dog has successfully completed their trial and enrolment is confirmed, ongoing daycare dates are arranged directly with us via email. Because we operate with a maximum of four dogs per day, scheduling is managed carefully to maintain group harmony and consistency.

Can I reschedule or cancel?

Yes - please refer to our Terms of Service for cancellation policies and notice periods.

We appreciate as much notice as possible so we can manage our schedule responsibly.

Why do you require a deposit?

Deposits allow us to reserve dedicated time for your pup and prepare accordingly.

As a small-capacity salon, this helps us maintain fairness and structure, so that we can provide the best, personalised care for your dog.
