My name is Silbi - dog mom, nature enthusiast, and owner of Groom Guru. That's me in the picture below, with my cranky 16 year-old lady, Snow White!
First off, thank you for taking the time to visit the Groom Guru blog. I'm very excited to share with you the great content I've got planned, from giving you an inside view into the various grooming scenarios we encounter, tips and tricks to dog care at home, updates on Groom Guru, and to also introduce to you the wonderful team dedicated to providing you and your pup the best experience possible!

How Groom Guru started, and what we're all about
In 2018, I took a leap of faith and decided to leave my much more stable 10-year corporate marketing career to pursue my dream of working with animals - by becoming a dog groomer.
Since then, I've had amazing experiences interacting with the incredibly diverse and vibrant canine communities around London, such as Stoke Newington, Chiswick, and Fulham. I've provided VIP experiences in Notting Hill for British and international clients such as Frank Lampard, Gary Barlow, and Chloe Moretz. I've also ended up on the big screen - starring as a groomer in a BT commercial promoting small businesses!
Towards the end of 2022, I started thinking about how I wanted to progress in my dog grooming career. I love animals, and I wanted to find something that would last me more than 10 years - for a lifetime. Reflecting upon both my career experiences, I began brainstorming ideas and laying the foundations for what would be Groom Guru (I initially wanted to dedicate this business to Snow White, who has been such a big part of my life and a massive inspiration to me, by naming it after her - but didn't want to risk trouble from Disney! So instead, I make do with lots of pictures of her!)
As an ex-corporate employee, a dog mom and dog groomer, I believe that grooming is about raising a happy and healthy dog. Whilst visiting the vet is largely about providing reactive care, grooming provides the preventative care to ensure that a dog's wellbeing is maintained throughout all seasons and days of the year. Having been a dog parent before becoming a dog groomer, I know what it's like to worry about leaving your dog at the groomers, to worry about whether the care you're providing is enough to ensure the happiness and health of your dog outside of grooming and vet visits, and the struggles involved in balancing life and job with your duties as a dog parent.
That's why Groom Guru is dedicated to bridging the gap between caring for your dog at home, and visits to the groomers to ensure year-round health, comfort and happiness.
As such, our services are designed to emphasise the holistic preventative care so that you can have the peace of mind that every aspect of your precious pup is being looked out for. Our services also aim to be as informative as possible. I believe that dog care starts at home (e.g., humans need to brush their teeth in between visits to the dentist, so that their teeth are sparkly white and plaque-free - the relationship between dog care at home and dog grooming is similar!). Groom Guru aims to inform you how you can provide the right care in between grooming appointments, so your dog's health and comfort is maintained year-round, therefore allowing us as groomers to make your dog shine and sparkle to its full potential!
That's my story leading to Groom Guru, the starting line. This is where we begin.
