Celebrating International Dog Day!

Updated: Aug 24, 2023

Happy dogs playing

Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a great week and are excited to welcome the weekend!

Ahead of this, Groom Guru would like to wish you all in advance a very happy International Dog Day, which is celebrated annually on 26th August.

We would like to take this opportunity to tell you more about this fantastic occasion, what we’re doing to celebrate International Dog Day, and how you can take part too!

About International Dog Day

The International Dog Day was created in 2004 by Colleen Paige, a pet lifestyle expert, animal advocate and author, who chose to celebrate the day on August 26th – the date her family adopted their first dog, Sheltie, from an animal shelter home.

The Day honours dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages and breeds, and encourages the adoption of the many dogs that need to be rescued each year.

The International Dog Day also acknowledges the dogs that work selflessly every day, putting their lives on the line in roles ranging from guide dogs, emotional service animals, law enforcement, personal protection, public safety, and as our best friends! The Day celebrates their contributions and remembers that all dogs deserve to experience the best life has to offer.

What we’re doing, and how you can take part

We would like to encourage you to celebrate International Dog Day by giving your dog an extra cuddle, and to remember to show appreciation to all our canine friends that love us unconditionally.

At Groom Guru, we want to do our part too. We are excited to announce the release of our ‘Holistic Wellbeing’ series, where we will publish monthly articles addressing a dog’s wellbeing across its whole body, from tail to snout. The series intends to demystify what a groomer does to make your dog sparkle, and to provide helpful information on how you can improve your dog’s wellbeing at home to provide it the best care. The first part of the series will be released on Thursday, 24th August, and will look at eye boogers – why they are important in relation to a dog’s wellbeing, and how you can take care of them.

We are also offering a 10% discount on all services for all appointments made in the next two weeks starting 21st August and lasting till 3rd of September. To make an appointment, please head to our online booking portal at www.groomguru.dog/book-online.

Groom Guru are also proud to announce that we will be partnering with Talula Eats and their dog-friendly restaurant Catalina’s, who provide locally made, organic and nutritionist-tailored doggy dining experiences, so you can enjoy a lovely meal and build wonderful memories with your best friends. They are situated 2 minutes down the road at 72 Cleveland Street – so why not celebrate your pup with an all-day pamper starting with a groom at Groom Guru, followed by a heart-warming meal at Catalina’s / Talula Eats?
